I offer a free 15-minute consultation. During this call, we can discuss your goals for starting therapy and you can ask any questions about the process. This is a great way to begin to determine if I am a good fit for you as a therapist!

During your first session either virtually or in-person, we will go through the intake process together. An intake session is when the therapist and client go through the client's background, reason for seeking therapy, potential symptoms, and goals for therapy. It also provides an opportunity for the therapist to outline their therapeutic approach and make a plan for future sessions. The intake process will take the entirety of the first 50 minute session. The process is not highly formal, but more of an opportunity to have informative conversation where we get to know each other and see if my approach is right for you.
If you decide to move forward, we will make a plan for future sessions and discuss which approaches might be best for you. Sessions are entirely tailored to you and your needs. Typically, sessions will combine discussing current concerns and life events as well as bigger themes such as relationship and childhood dynamics. We will also work on building skills that help you advance toward your goals.
In the beginning of our therapeutic relationship, we will discuss how frequently you want to meet and your timeline for engaging in therapy. Usually, sessions occur weekly or biweekly. Some clients feel good about their progress after several sessions whereas other prefer to meet for longer periods of time. We will continually revisit conversations about meeting frequency and your timeline to ensure you feel confident in your progress. We will also make sure to work within your resources and comfort level.
